1981 Award-winning design of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

1982 Since been responsible for a diverse body of work, including commissions for private houses and libraries, environmental installations and sculpture, as well as other public monuments.

1987 Established her New York studio

1998 designed her first line of retail furniture for the influential industry giant, Knoll, inspired, as is all her work, by the sensitive and fragile relationship between human beings and nature.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, fellowships and honors. She teaches and lectures around the world.
