Lighting / Table / Calvino

The Calvino lamp is based on two different planes and their relationship. The fundamental characteristics that make this lamp unique are thinness and weightlessness. A circular mirror can be orientated according to what pleases the eye to illuminate and at the same time to take in the space around it.

Davide Groppi (1963) started his career in mechanical design before segueing into lighting in 1988. A meeting with Maddelana De Padova led to his prototype ‘Baloo’ lamp being exhibited at the Salone del Mobile, and his career has followed a bright trajectory ever since. He has collaborated with prestige brands including Boffi, Mutina, Paola Lenti and Christofle as well as developing lighting under his own brand Davide Groppi.

Typified by simplicity and a sense of weightlessness, Davide Groppi’s lighting designs create maximum impact with a minimum of gesture. Subtly sculptural, they add quiet drama to any room.
