nendo's collaborations with Minotti do not disappoint and the Torii collection is no exception. Airy, with constructive details linked to Japanese tradition, the Torii modular seats play with round edged volumes, thin profiles and the formal simplicity of a thoughtful and rigorous design.

In this latest collection, Sato has devised a series of seats and tables that pay homage to the traditional torii entrance gate to Shinto shrines, using horizontal struts laid across vertical supports to create a sense of visual lightness but historical gravitas. Sofas come in high- or low-back configurations, armchairs, dining chairs and ottomans are generously padded and feature graciously curving backs. An accompanying series of low tables evoke the timelessness of the perfect circle.
